Quest for Heroes...

Roleplay Rules

1. Both the Empire of Corwyth and the Land of Aion are unique creations, designed worlds with their own rules. BEFORE you create a character for yourself, take the time to read through the accepted playable species for Corwyth and for Aion.

2. Roleplay here may be a little different to styles with which you're familiar. This is not D&D-type roleplay - it is more like a multi-person story. We strongly suggest you look through a few threads in each forum to gauge the style and function.

3. You ONLY CONTROL your own character(s). You cannot write someone else's reaction to what your character says or does.

4. Please don't even try to create über-characters or god-like characters. If you are playing a super-hero who is invulnerable to the characters established here as the authority figures, your character will probably be arrested for treason and tortured in a particularly grisly way involving feather dusters and being force-fed mashed brussel sprouts. If you cheek or offend the characters played by the administrators or moderators, the response will fit the crime. Admin/mod-played characters are there to guide, assist, and maintain order as well as partake in roleplay, so please respect that.

5. You cannot kill or wound someone else's character. Only the controller/creator of a character can decide whether or not he/she is injured (and how seriously) or kiled off. And it's much more fun to be alive...!

6. Please don't post "out of character" within the rpg threads. Take your OOC comments or questions to the general forums to avoid disturbing the roleplay flow.

7. Take the time to read the background information on Corwyth or Aion, to avoid making incorrect assumptions about the society, species, religion, social structure, geography, monetary system, etc., of each "land".

8. Please describe your character(s) in the respective forum before beginning to post in roleplay - that makes it possible for others to respond to your character. You will find the character forums easily - they are clearly marked within both rpg boards.

9. You can create as many characters as you wish. It's suggested you start with one until you feel more confident.

10. You can roleplay both in Aion and in Corwyth, with different characters as you wish. In addition, there may well be "away missions" in which you travel between the boards here, since we have a strong policy of encouraging a community spirit between the four boards.

11. Do not create a party of characters that you control - for one simple reason. It is not roleplay if there is no interaction with other characters played by other people. If you really want that party of characters to control, why not write a story and post it in our fiction section instead?

12. The setting for Corwyth and Aion is mediæval/fantasy. That means no time machines, no bombs, no Uzis, no Batmobiles (sorry!). But you can certainly have... flying carpets, Pegasus ride (if Pegasus feels like turning up), mediæval weaponry, magic spells, and so on.

13. For thieves in Corwyth, please don't steal before becoming a member of the Thieves' Guild, as an ornate dagger through the throat often offends... For thieves in Aion, please check on the Aion board for guidance.

14. For mages of all types in Corwyth, please check through the magic information before deciding to cast a thermonuclear blast, hmmm? For mages in Aion, please check on the Aion board for guidance.

15. To start roleplaying (once you've created your character), you can join an existing adventure (if you have a convincing reason for being in the location of an adventure in progress), or wander through the streets looking for adventure (it will find you), or post a quest notice in the local inn or guild hall in either Corwyth or Aion. Your quest notice can be as simple as "Looking for work" or "Looking for a quest - pay not of primary concern", or as elaborate as... anything you can imagine.

16. If you have any questions at all, feel free to email Tallin (creator and administrator of Aion) or email Almirena (creator and administrator of Corwyth). Either they or one of their fellow admins or moderators will reply to you as soon as possible.

17. If you're not sure how to go about roleplaying here, want to gain extra experience, or want the sheer kudos of gaining a Degree or Diploma in roleplay (which will entitle you to ten free movie passes to films which have stopped being shown, a year's subscription to an out-of-print magazine, plus give you a Very Impressive Certificate that will be the envy of your friends), feel free to join the roleplay classes run by Almirena and Tallin (with outside help if they can get it). They run on a one-on-one level as needed.
